Tweed Fender Champ C-14444

2010 March 6

Tweed Fender Champ C-14444 is featured today.  We can tell from the serial number that this amp was made in the middle of 1960.  Taking a look at the tube chart we see that the date code stamp is JG which tells us this amp was made in July 1960.  This amp has had some major work done on it, with replaced caps and filters.  This isn’t all that uncommon on these old amps.  It also looks like the handle and speaker are  new and the chicken head knob looks replaced.  It is also interesting that the power cord looks original.  A lot of times an amp tech won’t let these old amps off their bench with ungrounded plugs and will add in a 3 prong replacement.
